How to Set Up Reverse DNS in Windows Server 2012 (Short Guide)

How to make Reverse DNS



Open DNS Manager:

Server Manager → Tools → DNS

Create Reverse Lookup Zone:

Right-click Reverse Lookup Zones → New Zone

Choose Primary Zone → IPv4 Reverse Lookup Zone

Enter network ID (e.g., 192.168.0) → Finish

Add PTR Record:

Right-click the new zone → New Pointer (PTR)

Enter IP and domain name → OK

Verify:

nslookup <IP Address>
